The Albany Centre is a training Institute in St Albans, Hertfordshire, UK. Founded in 2010 by Directors Jon Wilson Cooper and Pippa Wilson, the Centre is now an established venue for professional training and personal development.
Jon is a qualified adoption support counsellor, course director for the Certificate in Adoption Support Counselling, and an adopter.
Jon started his professional therapeutic career in the mid 1980's working in therapeutic communities with people with severe mental health difficulties as well as drug and alcohol problems. Over the next two decades he worked as a manager and consultant/trainer all over England, for two years in America and a year in India.
Jon graduated as a Gestalt psychotherapist in 1995. Jon was Head of the Foundation Degree in Person Centred Counselling at Harrow College for a decade and was later Head of the Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling at The Metanoia Institute, London. Jon founded The Albany Centre, St Albans, in 2010 and is one of the Directors.
Pippa Wilson is a voice coach and speech and language therapist working with adults with both healthy and altered voices. Pippa gained a Linguistics and Phonetics degree in 1988 and qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1990.
For over two decades, her experience in the NHS brought her into contact with a variety of vocal problems; as a voice coach Pippa works with professional voice users such as actors, singers, teachers, clergy, lawyers, broadcasters and those who simply wish to find or develop their voice and the confidence to use it.
Pippa provides the voiceover for the Adoption Course videos, and is one of the Directors of The Albany Centre.
Gemma Kemish is the administrator for all courses at The Albany Centre. Gemma studied on The Albany Centre's first cohort of the Diploma in Counselling and this experience greatly assists in her Courses Administrator role.
Gemma also runs her own private practice based at The Albany Centre.
